Physics Partners are proud to have been a delivery partner in the ambitious Planet Possibility programme, seeing first-hand the transformative power of collaboration in making physics more accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for all young people.

Funded by the Institute of Physics through the Challenge Fund, Planet Possibility brought together grassroots charities, universities, and education partners from across the UK. Together with Future First, The Blair Project, Lightyear Foundation, University of Southampton, University of Birmingham, and AllAboutGroup Services, we achieved:
- 95,000+ people reached
- 200+ workshops and engagement activities delivered to schools and communities
- 900+ teachers trained
Over the first two-years of the programme, Physics Partners delivered online CPD subject knowledge and careers training to over 900 teachers. These sessions covered key GCSE physics topics – from Energy to Electromagnetism – and aimed to boost teacher confidence and subject knowledge.
Teachers also benefited from our complimentary career-focused sessions, exploring:
- What is Physics and why should we promote it?
- Where can Physics take you?
- Gender representation in physics
- Embedding physics careers into the curriculum
“It was fantastic! It felt like Physics suddenly started to click in a way it never had previously!”
– Numeracy in Physics attendee
As part of Planet Possibility, we turned our CPD sessions into a library of short GCSE Physics teaching videos. These clear, practical resources cover tricky topics like density, momentum, and electromagnetism – perfect for busy teachers needing quick refreshers or new approaches.
We also created Bitesize Physics Careers resources – a series of short films and presentations designed to help science departments integrate career conversations into lessons. Covering topics such as:
- Improving Uptake in Physics
- Where Can Physics Take You?
- Gender Representation
- Physics Careers in the Curriculum
These flexible, 15–20 minute sessions are easy to slot into departmental meetings and come with supporting PowerPoints and activities.
Finally, we delivered 25 interactive careers workshops across 21 schools, reaching over 650 students. These sessions gave pupils a glimpse into the diverse, exciting career paths that physics can open up – from engineering to space science – and showed how physics connects to real-world problems.
Planet Possibility has been transformative – for teachers, students, and the future of physics education in the UK.
